What is upgrade cover?
MDaemon and its plug-ins are continually being developed and improved. Having product upgrade cover on your licence means that your licence will automatically qualify for free upgrades released during the period of that cover. Licences for MDaemon and its plug-ins include 1 year of product upgrade cover by default and a 2 year option is available.
Can I renew my upgrade cover?
Upgrade cover can be renewed for a low cost each year and we will do our best to contact you by email, telephone and post to remind you about your product's upgrade cover expiry date each year.
What are the renewal costs each year?
The cost of renewing upgrade cover is a percentage of the new price at time of renewal. The percentage varies by product and also depends on whether your licence has expired or not.
If your licence has not yet expired then the percentage is 35% for MDaemon, 70% for the SecurityPlus plug-in and 25% for the Outlook Connector plug-in. ActiveSync licence keys do not need to be renewed as they are a one off purchase simply to enable the feature within MDaemon.
If your licence key has expired it's upgrade cover can still be renewed but it may cost more. For MDaemon and Outlook Connector, the percentage doubles to 70% and 50% respectively. SecurityPlus renewals remain the same at 70%.
If I renew early, will I lose out?
No. Renewing early will simply add cover to your existing licence's expiry date so you don't lose any time that you've already paid for.
If I choose not to renew, will my software stop working?
MDaemon and the Outlook Connector plug-in will continue to work if allowed to expire, but you will no longer be covered for free upgrades and free technical support. In the case of the SecurityPlus plug-in, the automated virus signatures updates and Outbreak Protection look-ups will stop working leaving your MDaemon server unprotected ie. not a good situation!
Does upgrade cover include a technical support contract?
No, a licence's product support cover only entitles you to new versions of the products as and when they are released. However, we are happy to provide comprehensive free technical support via phone and email to licences which are still within their product support period and that were purchased directly from us. If your licence was purchased through a reseller, then you should contact your reseller as the first point of contact for sales and support queries before contacting us.
I purchased my licence a month ago and a new version of the software has just been released. Am I entitled to an upgrade?
Yes - because your licence came with a year's product upgrade cover you can benefit from new developments and fixes that are released over the following year simply by downloading and installing the latest version from our website.
I purchased my product 3 years ago and I want to download the latest version of the product. Can I do this?
Yes, although you may need to renew the product upgrade cover on your licence first if it has expired. If you have not renewed the product upgrade cover your licence will not cover you for a free upgrade to the latest version of the product.
Can I purchase more than 1 year of product support cover?
Yes. Licences for MDaemon and its plug-ins come with 1 year of product upgrade cover included, however an optional 2 year product upgrade cover option can be purchased.
