MDaemon - its quick and easy!
From the ground up, MDaemon is designed to be quick and easy to install, use and manage. From its low system requirements, through its painfree installation and onwards to its initial configuration and ongoing administration, everything in MDaemon is designed with the user in mind.
Low system requirements
MDaemon can be installed on ANY modestly specified Windows PC (except the original release of Win95) - it doesn't require a Microsoft Server platform at all - our perferred platform is actually Windows XP PRO. MDaemon does not require additional Microsoft CALs (client access licences) potentially saving a fortune in hardware and licencing costs.
Up and running in 10 minutes
MDaemon can be installed and configured by anyone (assuming a small amount of technical skill) from scratch in less than 10 minutes! Compare that to the many hours that even a skilled IT technician requires to install and configure a Microsoft Exchange server.
Use MDaemon with direct SMTP delivery, or POP3 collection
As well as full support for acceptance of directly delivered SMTP email, MDaemon can also optionally collect email from one or more catch-all POP3 accounts for redistribution. Alternatively each MDaemon account can be configured to collect email from one or multiple external POP3 accounts. MDaemon also offers full support for ATRN and ETRN dequeuing mechanisms where SMTP delivery-on-demand services are offered.
Use MDaemon with dial-up, ISDN, broadband or private circuits.
Complete support for POP mail collection means you can use MDaemon even if you only have a modem connection and single POP3 account with your ISP. As your Internet connectivity improves and your email requirements grow, MDaemon will grow with you - full support for true inbound/outbound SMTP delivery means you won't need to replace MDaemon in the future.

MDaemon is backed up by a dedicated support team here in the UK who collectively have over 30 years worth of experience with Internet email and MDaemon. This team is available by telephone and email so if you do have a problem, you know that you'll be able to talk to someone that can solve your problem.

Standard 'folders and files' backend
MDaemon uses standard folders and files to store its settings, accounts and messages which means it's really easy to see where everything is and how everything is working. The only limitation on storage space is the Windows file systems itself removing the limitations which are imposed on other many servers by their single monolithic database back-end.
Easy back-ups
Because MDaemon uses standard files and folders, backing up is easy. Simply take a copy of your entire MDaemon folder. No specialist back-up software is required saving you even more money.

MDaemon 9.x is an excellent product and a genuine Exchange-killer in terms of functionality. However, this isn't enough on its own - when using any software in an Enterprise environment the provision of rapid, quality support is critical when problems do occur.
At Cantarus we have had few problems with MDaemon and I'm pleased to say that with first class support from Zen Software none of those few problems have been serious and all have been quickly resolved. In terms of responsiveness, product knowledge and all-round efficacy the Zen team are as good as I have seen.
